Barred Spiral Galaxy NGC 2903

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

NGC 2903 is a barred spiral galaxy, much like our own Milky Way, about 20 million light years away. Its core has many bright, young globular clusters, unlike the uniformly old ones in our galaxy. These clusters are areas where many stars formed recently. The Hubble Space Telescope helped astronomers discover this difference.
