NASA APOD · University of Minnesota
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Carina Nebula, also known as NGC 3372, is a region of gas and dust sculpted by powerful stellar winds. At its heart is Eta Carinae, one of the most luminous stars known, which has violently cast off material. This image captures the nebula in three specific colors: blue from hot oxygen, green from warm hydrogen, and red from cooler hydrogen.
