NGC 4676: When Mice Collide
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
These two mighty galaxies are pulling each other apart. Known as "The Mice" due to their long tails, each spiral galaxy has likely already passed through the other. They will probably collide again until they coalesce. The long tails are formed by differences in gravitational pulls on the galaxies' near and far parts.
