Westerlund 1 is a young star cluster about 15,000 light years away. It holds some of the most massive and luminous stars we know. One of them, Westerlund 1-26, is a red supergiant so large it would extend past Jupiter's orbit if placed in our solar system's center. The cluster is a cosmic laboratory for understanding extreme stellar evolution.
