Three Galaxies in Draco

NASA APOD · David Vernet , Jean-François Bax , Serge Brunier
COSMIC MESSAGE

This trio of galaxies, sometimes called the Draco Group, is in the northern constellation Draco, the Dragon. From left to right, we see the face-on spiral NGC 5985, the elliptical galaxy NGC 5982, and the edge-on spiral NGC 5981. All three are visible in a single telescopic field of view, spanning slightly more than the width of the full moon. While not a compact group, these three galaxies are physically close.
