The Viking Orbiter captured this image of Mars in 1976, showing the landing site of the Mars Pathfinder. While the surface appears rocky from the ground, from orbit, Mars is covered with craters. The twin peaks to the west of the landing site are visible, dominating the horizon in many Pathfinder photographs.
