Stonehenge: Ancient Monument to the Sun
NASA APOD · Clive Ruggles
COSMIC MESSAGE
Stonehenge, a monument of large carved stones, was assembled about 4000 years ago. Ancient inhabitants moved 25-ton rocks nearly 20 miles to construct it. While its accuracy is not impressive by modern standards, similar ancient constructs allowed people to track the time of year by observing the Sun and Moon.
