Supernova Remnant and Neutron Star
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
When a massive star dies, it becomes a supernova, blasting its outer layers into space. The collapse of its dense core initiates this explosion. However, the core may not be destroyed. It can transform into a neutron star, an exotic object with the density of an atomic nucleus, yet more massive than the Sun. Neutron stars are difficult to detect directly due to their small size, roughly 10 miles in diameter.
