A Slice of the Universe with 2dF
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
Astronomers used the Two Degree Field spectrograph on the Anglo-Australian Telescope to measure the redshifts of over 100,000 galaxies. This created a 'slice' of the universe, revealing its large-scale structure. Huge clusters, long filaments, and empty voids, some over 100 million light-years across, are visible out to four billion light-years.
