Apollo 12 was the second mission to land humans on the Moon. Its target was Surveyor 3, a robotic spacecraft that had landed three years earlier. Mission commander Pete Conrad retrieved parts from the Surveyor, visible in this photo by lunar module pilot Alan Bean. The lunar module is in the distance.
