Comet and Aurora Over Alaska

COSMIC MESSAGE
A aurora lights up the Alaskan landscape, but look closely to the lower left. There, just barely visible, is Comet Ikeya-Zhang, the brightest comet of its time. The aurora is a fleeting display of light in Earth's atmosphere. The comet, a giant snowball of dirt and ice, spends most of its life far from the Sun.
