Artificial clouds made by humans, called contrails, may become so common they change Earth's climate. These long, thin streaks are cirrus clouds created by airplanes. An airplane engine's exhaust can saturate the surrounding air with moisture, forming a contrail. Airplane wings can also create contrails by dropping the temperature and causing small ice crystals to form.
