Crescent Saturn

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

From Earth, we never see Saturn as a crescent. But the Cassini spacecraft, viewing the planet from beyond, captured this image of crescent Saturn in May 2007. The image shows Saturn's majestic rings from their unilluminated side, a perspective not visible from Earth. We can also see the subtle colors of Saturn's cloud bands.
