The Cat's Eye Nebula

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Three thousand light-years away, a dying star throws off shells of glowing gas, forming the Cat's Eye Nebula. This Hubble Space Telescope image reveals it to be one of the most complex planetary nebulae known. Astronomers suspect the bright central object may actually be a binary star system. The term planetary nebula is misleading, as these objects are not planets.
