Meteors and Milky Way over Mount Rainier

This image captures the Perseid meteor shower over Mount Rainier, Washington, USA. It was created from a two-hour time-lapse video, showing over 20 meteors. Each meteor is a tiny bit of comet dust, burning up as it enters Earth's atmosphere, and typically lasts less than a second. The camera was able to record the color progressions of these disintegrating particles.
