Distant Neutrinos Detected Below Antarctic Ice

Neutrinos are nearly invisible particles, and the IceCube Neutrino Observatory in Antarctica detects some of the most energetic ones. These high-energy neutrinos pass through much of the Earth before being detected by instruments frozen deep in the ice. Scientists are still working to pinpoint where these cosmic neutrinos originate.
