COSMIC MESSAGE
The Moon sets over the Chiricahua Mountains in Arizona, totally eclipsed. This event, the second full moon of January 2018, saw the Moon pass through Earth's shadow. The Moon's reddish color comes from sunlight scattered into the shadow by our planet's atmosphere. It glows darker near the shadow's center.
