Dark Nebulas across Taurus

Sometimes even the dark dust of interstellar space has a serene beauty. These filaments of dust toward the constellation of Taurus are between the Pleiades star cluster and the California Nebula. The dust is known for its absorption and opacity, rather than its glow. Several bright stars are visible, their blue light reflecting off the brown dust, while others appear red as their light barely penetrates the dust.
