Shadowed Moon and Mountain
On July 16, the Moon was partly immersed in Earth's dark, reddened umbral shadow during a lunar eclipse. This image captures the partial eclipse touching down along a mountain ridge in Austria. The event marked the 50th anniversary of the launch of Apollo 11. Lunar eclipses are often accompanied by other celestial events.
