Strawberry Moon over the Temple of Poseidon

NASA APOD · Elias Chasiotis
COSMIC MESSAGE

June's full moon is often called the Strawberry Moon, named for when wild strawberries begin to ripen in parts of the Northern Hemisphere. Because full moons are opposite the Sun, they are visible almost all night long. Different cultures around the globe have unique names for this full moon, including the Honey Moon. The image shows the moon over the Temple of Poseidon.
