COSMIC MESSAGE

M78 is a bluish reflection nebula, five light-years across and 1,500 light-years away in Orion. Its blue tint comes from dust reflecting the light of hot, young stars. To the left is another reflection nebula, NGC 2071, and flecks of emission from Herbig-Haro objects show where new stars are forming.
