Stars form in dense regions of gas and dust called evaporating gaseous globules, or EGGs. These EGGs are found at the end of giant pillars in the Eagle Nebula, M16. Light from hot, new stars heats the pillars, causing gas and dust to evaporate, revealing more EGGs and young stars.
