The famous Horsehead Nebula is an indentation carved from cold dust. This deep exposure, with stars removed, shows the Horsehead is part of a vast complex of absorbing dust and glowing gas. The Flame Nebula is the orange cloud to the Horsehead's left. Stellar winds and ancient supernovas sculpted these intricate wisps and filaments.
