Moon and Smoke Rings from Mt. Etna

Mount Etna occasionally emits smoke rings, technically known as vortex rings. The volcano's walls slow the outer part of emitted smoke puffs, causing the inner gas to move faster. This creates a low-pressure circle, making the gas and ash loop into a stable ring as it rises. These smoke rings are rare, requiring specific geological conditions to form.
