COSMIC MESSAGE

The Southern Celestial Pole, unlike the North, has no bright star to mark it. This image, taken in Brazil, shows star trails curving around that empty spot. The Southern Cross, a constellation visible in the Southern Hemisphere, can be used to locate this pole. It is a guide for navigation under skies far from Polaris.
