Comet ATLAS, C/2019 Y4, has apparently fragmented as it cruises through the inner solar system. This telescopic close-up from April 12 shows multiple separate condensations within its diffuse coma. Discovered in December 2019, Comet ATLAS brightened rapidly in late March, leading to hopes it would become a naked-eye comet.
