Summer at the South Pole

NASA APOD
MENSAJE CÓSMICO

December 22nd marks the summer solstice in the Southern Hemisphere. At the South Pole, the Sun circles above the horizon for 24 hours a day during this period. The photo shows the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station bathed in continuous sunlight. This unique lighting allows for continuous astronomical observations from the pole's dry, clear atmosphere.
