Comet Hale-Bopp Inbound Credit:

Comet Hale-Bopp, shown here in images from the Hubble Space Telescope, was inbound to the inner solar system. Anticipated to be a bright spectacle, its journey was closely followed by observers. These images hint at the comet's evolution as it approached the Sun, before it became too close to the Sun's position for large telescopes to easily observe.
