The Carina Nebula in Infrared

The Carina Nebula, or NGC 3372, is a vast stellar nursery where stars began forming about three million years ago. This infrared image reveals many details of the nebula, showing fine dust reflecting starlight and emitting its own light after being heated. The open star clusters Trumpler 14 and Trumpler 16 are visible within this region, which lies about 9,000 light-years away.
