New Stars Destroying NGC 1748
NGC 1748 is a star-forming nebula that is being destroyed by its own young stars. The most massive of these stars are bright blue and emit so much energy that they push out the surrounding gas and dust. Over the past hundred thousand years, these stars have reshaped the nebula into a bubble-like structure. This process will likely disperse the nebula over the next few million years.
