2dF Sees Waves of Galaxies

NASA APOD
MENSAJE CÓSMICO

How are galaxies distributed in the universe? This map, created by the Two-Degree Field (2dF) system, shows the distribution of nearly 200,000 galaxies. The 2dF system measures galaxy redshifts, allowing astronomers to estimate distances to millions of galaxies. This information helps us understand the composition of the universe itself.
