Earth's Richat Structure

The Richat Structure, located in the Sahara Desert of Mauritania, is a prominent geological feature nearly 50 kilometers across. Once thought to be an impact crater, its layered sedimentary rock and lack of volcanic material indicate it's a deeply eroded dome. It's often called the 'Eye of the Sahara' due to its distinctive circular shape.
