Z Machine Sets Unexpected Earth Temperature Record

The Z Machine at Sandia National Laboratories created a plasma hotter than the core of a star, reaching over two billion Kelvin. This makes it arguably the hottest human-made thing ever. Physicists are still trying to understand why this plasma reached such extreme temperatures, but it shows the power of focusing 20 million amps of electricity.
