The Large Magellanic Cloud, our galactic neighbor, is a chaotic mix of gas and dust. This infrared image from the Spitzer Space Telescope reveals where dust collects, glowing with the warmth of stellar materials. It took 300,000 individual exposures to create this detailed map. This level of detail helps astronomers understand how stars recycle their material back into space.
