NGC 3132: The Eight Burst Nebula

NGC 3132, also known as the Eight-Burst Nebula or Southern Ring Nebula, is a planetary nebula formed by the outer layers of a dying star. The dim star near the center, not the bright one, is responsible for creating this beautiful structure. The hot blue light around this binary system is energized by the faint, hot star. This image highlights the nebula's unusual symmetries and asymmetries.
