Solstice at Newgrange
The December solstice marks the southernmost point of the Sun's annual motion and the astronomical start of winter in the Northern Hemisphere. The megalithic tomb of Newgrange in Ireland, dating back 5,000 years, aligns accurately with the solstice Sun. A live webcast from Newgrange often celebrates the winter solstice sunrise.
