Panorama of the Whale Galaxy

NASA APOD
MENSAJE CÓSMICO

NGC 4631 is a large spiral galaxy seen edge-on, about 30 million light-years away. Its slightly distorted wedge shape gives it the popular moniker of the Whale galaxy. Dark interstellar dust clouds and young bright blue star clusters are visible in this panoramic image. The Whale galaxy's size is similar to our Milky Way.
