Across the Center of Centaurus A
The Hubble Space Telescope captured this image of Centaurus A, an active galaxy with a supermassive black hole at its center. The image reveals young blue star clusters, glowing gas clouds, and dark dust lanes. Infrared observations show disks of matter spiraling into the black hole, which has a billion times the mass of the Sun.
