The Mysterious Rings of Supernova 1987A

NASA APOD
MENSAJE CÓSMICO

Supernova 1987A, located in the Large Magellanic Cloud, was the brightest supernova in recent history. This image shows the remnant of the violent stellar explosion. Surrounding the central object are mysterious outer rings, which appear as a flattened figure eight. Even after years of observation by telescopes like Hubble, the origin of these curious rings remains a puzzle.
