A Picturesque Venus Transit

The 2004 transit of Venus across the Sun was extensively photographed. Observers in Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America captured both scientific and artistic images. The event allowed scientists to confirm that the 'black drop effect,' where Venus appears to stretch and connect to the Sun's limb, is more related to viewing clarity than Venus's atmosphere. This rare celestial alignment provided a wealth of data and beautiful imagery.
