Pan-STARRS and Nebulae

NASA APOD
MENSAJE CÓSMICO

The Pan-STARRS instrument, designed for wide-field surveys, captured this expansive view towards Sagittarius. It covers the Lagoon Nebula, the Trifid Nebula, and NGC 6559, all set within the Milky Way's dense, dusty starfields. The image uses a color scheme where reddened starlight appears red, and hydrogen emission glows green. This single field spans nearly three degrees, about six times the width of the full Moon.
