Rotating Moon from LRO

This video shows the Moon rotating as if seen from space, a view we never get from Earth. Our Moon is tidally locked, always showing us the same face. This high-resolution animation was created from detailed images taken by the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter. It begins with the familiar Earth-facing side, then reveals features like Mare Orientale.
