Heavy Black Hole Jets in 4U1630-47

What are black hole jets made of? Many black holes are surrounded by disks of gas pulled from a companion star. Some of this material is then expelled in powerful jets from the black hole's poles. Recent evidence suggests these jets contain not only electrons and protons, but also the nuclei of heavy elements like iron and nickel. This finding helps us understand the composition of these cosmic phenomena.
