SDO's Multiwavelength Sun
The Sun reaches its southernmost point in the sky today, marking the winter solstice in the northern hemisphere. This image from the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) shows our star in multiple wavelengths, from visible light to extreme ultraviolet. Each wavelength reveals different layers and activities in the Sun's atmosphere.
