Planetary Nebula Mz3: The Ant Nebula

The Ant Nebula, Mz3, is a planetary nebula with an unusual shape. The gas streaming away from its central star forms a distinct ant-like structure, not a sphere. Clues to its shape include the high speed of the expelled gas, its light-year length, and the magnetism of the central star. One theory is that a second, dimmer star influences its form.
