Equinox on a Spinning Earth

An equinox, like the one occurring tomorrow, is when day and night are most nearly equal across Earth. The terminator, the dividing line between day and night, becomes vertical and connects the north and south poles. This time-lapse video, captured by the Meteosat satellite, shows an entire year on Earth in just twelve seconds, demonstrating this phenomenon.
