Orion above Easter Island
One of the ancient Moai statues stands silhouetted against the night sky on Easter Island. These massive stone figures were carved by the Rapa Nui people over 700 years ago. Their exact purpose remains a mystery, but many believe they represent ancestral leaders. Above the statue, the constellation Orion shines brightly, connecting the ancient and the cosmic.
