The Red Rectangle Nebula from Hubble

NASA APOD
MENSAJE CÓSMICO

The Red Rectangle Nebula, captured by Hubble, shows the unusual shape of a dying star's outflow. A thick dust torus around a binary star system pinches the gas into two cones. We see it edge-on, making an X shape. The distinct rungs suggest the outflow happens in fits and starts.
