The Windmill and the Star Trails

NASA APOD · Antonio Gonzalez
MENSAJE CÓSMICO

Star trails arc over an old windmill on La Palma in the Canary Islands. The camera was fixed, so the trails show Earth's rotation over time. The windmill, retired since 1953, is aligned with the North Celestial Pole. This point in the sky is directly above Earth's rotational axis.
