The Lively Center of the Lagoon Nebula
The Lagoon Nebula's center is a tempest of star birth, with long, funnel-shaped clouds sculpted by powerful stellar winds. Herschel 36, a tremendously bright star, illuminates this area. Vast dust walls conceal other hot, young stars, and the energy from these stars creates large temperature differences in adjacent regions.
